The Glen Top Brewery was known to be brewing in the first half of the 19th Century. The company was registered as John Baxter Ltd in 1895 and continued in serene existence until it was acquired by Beverley Brothers of the Eagle brewery, Wakefield in 1952. Brewing ceased soon afterwards.
