Same thing just happened to me. I respeced Shadowheart to a Vengeance Pally/Light cleric. We are fighting our way into the Moonrise prison to free the Tieflings and Gnomes and after one kill she gets the message her oath is broken. I am pretty sure killing torturous, evil cult members who are victimizing the innocent falls under her Vengeance Oath.
